Wonderful Volcanoes in Costa Rica
Costa Rica is known to be the world’s “greenest” nation. This is due to the rich vegetation and wonderful wildlife resource found in this country. It has almost 70 volcanoes despite its relatively small size. It has six known active volcanoes that are mostly visited by tourists because of its nearby sites especially the great number of hot springs. This is why Costa Rica is also coined as the most alive nation of the world. Here, I give you the most visited volcanoes in Costa Rica.
1. Arenal Volcano

The Arenal Volcano can be considered the most visited volcanoes. It is a beautiful cone-shaped active volcano and is known to be the most active among its volcanoes until 2010. It is a favorite destination because you can still see spewing of lava in the crater of the volcano that is guaranteed to be a breathtaking sight. You may also enjoy doing horseback riding and feel refreshed in one of the hot springs present here.
2. Poas Volcano

Another most visited volcano is the Poas Volcano because of its close proximity to the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose. The volcano is part of the Poas National Park that comprises 5,600 hectares. The volcano stands at about 2,700 meters. The nearby surroundings of the volcano is known to have an incredible biodiversity. Different species of birds and wild animals can be found here. There are four known habitats present in Poas Volcano area including a cloud forest.
3. Irazu Volcano
Irazu Volcano
A popular tourist destination from San Jose is Irazu Volcano. It has seven craters including Diego dela Haya, which has a beautiful emerald lake with variable depth. It is the highest among the active volcanoes in Costa Rica. It is included in the area which comprises the Irazu Volcano National Park which is determined to restore the surroundings of Irazu Volcano due to the various catastrophes produced by its previous eruptions.
